New year eve

Hey,

I did my first New year eve in a different country that France. It was really fast because we didn't plan to make a party in a bar and our french friend from Sup de Co worked tomorrow, so she couldn't make a party. We walked a long time in the street to find a bar in order to drink something for the new year. All the bars closed at midnight and we arrived at 11.40 pm in a British bar. My friends drunk a beer. I asked a beer with a cherry syrup but he gave me a beer and a cherry liquor. Sometimes, the language barrier is funny (and expensive..). After midnight, everybody said us: Happy new year. It was so funny and impressive. There were so many people in the street and drunk youngsters were going to the discotheque. We walked a lot and took a Uber (trains was stopped) to come back to our place. We didn't make a party, but I have really appreciated to did that in Birmingham.

Day 2

Monday, the 28 Th December we left the house at 11 am and go by train to New Street and discover the big mall called "The Bull Ring Center". The biggest one that I have ever seen in my life, and It was full of people because there were the sales. We could find food from every country but no restaurant from England ... So, we ate a "lasagne" with a Jack potato. It was disgusting and very expensive (around 10 pounds...). We went to the Birmingham Museum Art & Gallery, one of the biggest museum of the town and it's free. Impressive and incredible, are the best words to describe this. We could find several paintings, sculptures and objects through all the centuries. I really liked this museum, and mostly the part called Staffordshire Hoard. It was the largest treasure of Anglo-Saxons ever found. I am really interested in the old coin and objects and it was the paradise. Golds everywhere, It was so impressive. In a microscope, we could see a video of How they take care of the gold, and it was awesome and interesting.

After 2 hours of visiting, we came back to the house.

Day 1

Hello,

I will do a period with my friend Tom (cf : https://birmingham920.wordpress.com/) in Birmingham, England during 10 days (from 27th December to 5th January). The purpose is to understand how the British people lives thanks to the second largest town of the country and discover the different architectural styles.

Day 1 (Sunday, 27th December)
I slept in the Tom's house in Versailles and we took the first RER (4.47 am) to go to CDC airport because our flight departure was at 8.20 am and we needed to come 2 hours before. The airline company was Air France and it was a middle size plane. We arrived at the Birmingham airport at 8.42 am (don't forget the time zone shift of -1 hour). We spend 1 hour to find the train (even it was in the airport ahah...). It was free until New street, the center town. We bought a ticket for 2.20 pounds until Selly Oak station (the closest station of our Airbnb apartment, around 20 min in walking). To find our apart', we spend more than 45 minutes because we didn't know the good and the fastest way. It was a house with 2 big rooms and we had book a room for 38 € per night, what is more interesting than a Hostel. The airbnb host was in Holiday and his brother and a friend kept his home, but we could contact him really easily. We stayed at the appart all the afternoon and eat our first fish & chips in a little fast food and it was very tasty (yummy). Good night :D
